He thanked God for keeping His promise to David and asked Him to continue it (1 Kings 8:24-26).
He confessed heaven cannot contain God, much less this house (1 Kings 8:27).
He asked God to hear prayers made toward the temple and forgive (1 Kings 8:28-30).
He prayed for justice when oaths were sworn; forgiveness when Israel was defeated for sin; rain in drought; help in famine and plague (1 Kings 8:31-40).
He prayed for foreigners who come to pray, so all peoples may know God (1 Kings 8:41-43).
He prayed for victory in battle and forgiveness and mercy for exiles who repent (1 Kings 8:44-50).
He blessed the people and urged them to keep God's commandments (1 Kings 8:55-61).
