Theory question 102
Joshua and the Judges(a) Trace the circumstances that led to the call of Deborah to battle with Jabin. (b) Mention three ways women can contribute to national development.
Show the model answer
(a) After Ehud died Israel did evil again (Judges 4:1).
God sold them to Jabin king of Canaan, whose commander Sisera had 900 iron chariots (Judges 4:2-3).
Jabin oppressed Israel cruelly for twenty years and they cried to the Lord (Judges 4:3).
Deborah, a prophetess judging Israel between Ramah and Bethel, sent for Barak (Judges 4:4-6).
She gave him God's command to take 10,000 men of Naphtali and Zebulun to Mount Tabor (Judges 4:6-7).
Barak would go only with her; she went, saying the glory would go to a woman (Judges 4:8-10).
(b) Any three: in politics and leadership; education and health care; business and agriculture; raising responsible children; peace-building; the professions and public service.
Use Judges 4:1-10, then three ways.
