Model answer

(a) God rejected Saul and sent Samuel to anoint David, son of Jesse, at Bethlehem (1 Samuel 16:1-13).
The Spirit of the Lord left Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him (1 Samuel 16:14).
His servants advised him to find a skilful lyre player to soothe him (1 Samuel 16:15-16).
A servant recommended David: skilful in playing, a man of valour, prudent, and the Lord was with him (1 Samuel 16:18).
Saul sent to Jesse, who sent David with gifts (1 Samuel 16:19-20).
Saul loved him and made him his armour-bearer (1 Samuel 16:21-22).
When David played, Saul was refreshed and the evil spirit left him (1 Samuel 16:23).
(b) Any three: obey God fully; do not blame others for your faults; avoid jealousy; avoid impatience (Gilgal sacrifice); avoid occult practices; humility and repentance.

Explanation

Narrate 1 Samuel 16:14-23, then three lessons.
