Model answer

(a) Elijah gathered Israel and 450 prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel and asked how long they would limp between two opinions (1 Kings 18:19-21).
Two bulls were prepared; the god who answered by fire would be God (1 Kings 18:23-24).
The prophets of Baal called on Baal from morning to noon, danced and cut themselves, but there was no answer (1 Kings 18:26-29).
Elijah mocked them: perhaps Baal was asleep or on a journey (1 Kings 18:27).
Elijah repaired the Lord's altar with twelve stones, dug a trench and drenched the offering with water three times (1 Kings 18:30-35).
He prayed for God to show that He is God in Israel (1 Kings 18:36-37).
Fire fell and consumed the offering, wood, stones, dust and water (1 Kings 18:38).
The people fell down and cried, "The Lord, he is God" (1 Kings 18:39).
The prophets of Baal were killed, and God sent rain (1 Kings 18:40-45).
(b) Any three: preaching and teaching moral values; setting a good example; counselling and rehabilitation; speaking out against corruption and vice; youth programmes; cooperating with government; prayer.

Explanation

Narrate 1 Kings 18:19-45, then three ways.
