Model answer

(a) Pharaoh dreamed he stood by the Nile; seven sleek, fat cows came up and fed (Genesis 41:1-2).
Seven ugly, thin cows came up and ate the fat cows (Genesis 41:3-4).
He dreamed again: seven plump, good ears of grain grew on one stalk (Genesis 41:5).
Seven thin ears blighted by the east wind sprouted and swallowed the good ears (Genesis 41:6-7).
He was troubled; no magician or wise man could interpret (Genesis 41:8).
The chief butler remembered Joseph, who was brought from prison (Genesis 41:9-14).
Joseph said God would answer; both dreams meant seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine (Genesis 41:16, 25-32).
(b) Any three: Joseph was released and made ruler over Egypt, second to Pharaoh (Genesis 41:39-44); he was given a royal marriage to Asenath and a new name (41:45); he stored grain and saved Egypt and many nations (41:47-57); his brothers came to buy grain and were reconciled to him (Genesis 42–45); Jacob's family settled in Goshen and were kept alive (45:7; 47:6); his own dreams of his brothers bowing came true (42:6).

Explanation

Narrate Genesis 41:1-32, then three effects.
