Show the model answer
(a) Nathan told David that because of his sin with Bathsheba the child would die (2 Samuel 12:14).
The child became very sick (2 Samuel 12:15).
David besought God for the child, fasted and lay all night on the ground (2 Samuel 12:16).
The elders tried to raise him and make him eat, but he refused (2 Samuel 12:17).
On the seventh day the child died; the servants feared to tell him (2 Samuel 12:18).
Seeing them whisper, David knew; he rose, washed, anointed himself, changed his clothes and worshipped in the house of the Lord (2 Samuel 12:19-20).
Then he went home and ate (2 Samuel 12:20).
He explained: while the child lived he fasted and wept hoping God might be gracious; now he is dead, "I shall go to him, but he will not return to me" (2 Samuel 12:21-23).
He comforted Bathsheba, and she bore Solomon (2 Samuel 12:24).
(b) Any two: sin has consequences; we should pray earnestly in trouble; accept God's will when prayer is not granted; worship God even in sorrow; do not mourn without hope; continue life after loss.
Narrate 2 Samuel 12:14-24, then two lessons.
