Question 38

Mensuration of Solids

Water flows from a tap into a cylindrical container at the rate of 5π cm3 per second. If the radius of the container is 3cm, calculate the level of water in the container at the end of 9 seconds.

  1. A.2cm
  2. B.5cm
  3. C.8cm
  4. D.15cm.
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (5cm)

Explanation

Volume after 9 s = 45π cm3 = π × 32 × h, so h = 45/9 = 5 cm.
