(b) e.g. Administrative: seat of government offices; many civil servants; planned layout with government buildings; good amenities.
Commercial: large markets, shops and banks; many traders; very accessible, a focus of routes; dense population.
Mining: grows near mineral deposits; miners and related workers; may decline when minerals are exhausted.
