(a) Peter asked how often he should forgive; Jesus said seventy times seven (Matthew 18:21-22).
A king settling accounts found a servant who owed ten thousand talents (Matthew 18:23-24).
He ordered him sold with his family; the servant begged for patience (Matthew 18:25-26).
The king pitied him and forgave the debt (Matthew 18:27).
The servant seized a fellow servant who owed him a hundred denarii and threw him into prison (Matthew 18:28-30).
Other servants reported to the king (Matthew 18:31).
The king said, "You wicked servant!… should not you have had mercy?" and handed him to the jailers (Matthew 18:32-34).
So the Father will do to those who do not forgive from the heart (Matthew 18:35).
(b) Any two: God forgives those who forgive (Matthew 6:14); peace of mind; restored relationships; freedom from bitterness; answered prayers.
