Model answer

(a) The Ziphites told Saul David was hiding on the hill of Hachilah; Saul went with 3,000 men (1 Samuel 26:1-2).
David saw where Saul lay, with Abner and the army around (1 Samuel 26:3-5).
At night David and Abishai entered the camp; Saul slept with his spear stuck in the ground (1 Samuel 26:6-7).
Abishai wanted to kill Saul; David refused to touch the Lord's anointed (1 Samuel 26:8-11).
They took the spear and water jar; a deep sleep from the Lord was on all (1 Samuel 26:12).
From a hilltop David rebuked Abner for not guarding the king (1 Samuel 26:13-16).
David asked Saul why he pursued him and what evil he had done (1 Samuel 26:17-20).
Saul said, "I have done wrong; return, my son David" (1 Samuel 26:21).
(b) Any two: respect for authority; self-control; mercy/forgiveness; trust in God; patience; humility.

Explanation

Narrate 1 Samuel 26, then two qualities.
