(a) Any four: fire would devour their strongholds (Amos 2:5; 5:6); an enemy would surround the land and plunder it (3:11); their luxurious houses would be destroyed (3:15); exile beyond Damascus (5:27; 7:17); the day of the Lord would be darkness, not light (5:18-20); the end would come — the basket of summer fruit (8:1-2); famine of hearing God's word (8:11-12); the high places and sanctuaries laid waste and Jeroboam's house struck by the sword (7:9); earlier warnings of famine, drought, blight, locusts and plague (4:6-10).
