Show the model answer
(a) When Samuel became old he made his sons Joel and Abijah judges at Beersheba (1 Samuel 8:1-2).
They took bribes and perverted justice (1 Samuel 8:3).
The elders came to Samuel at Ramah: "You are old and your sons do not walk in your ways; appoint for us a king to govern us like all the nations" (1 Samuel 8:4-5).
Samuel was displeased and prayed (1 Samuel 8:6).
God said they had rejected Him, not Samuel, but told Samuel to listen and warn them (1 Samuel 8:7-9).
Samuel warned that a king would take their sons, daughters, fields and a tenth of their produce (1 Samuel 8:11-18).
The people insisted, "We will have a king over us" (1 Samuel 8:19-20).
God told Samuel to give them a king; Saul was later anointed and chosen by lot (1 Samuel 8:22; 10:1, 20-24).
(b) Any four (Saul): God rejected him as king (1 Samuel 15:23); the kingdom was torn from him and given to David (15:28; 16:13); the Spirit left him and an evil spirit tormented him (16:14); God no longer answered him (28:6); he lost to the Philistines and died with his sons on Gilboa (31:1-6); his dynasty ended.
Narrate 1 Samuel 8, then four consequences for Saul.
