Parables of Jesus(a) "…Who is my neighbour?" How did Jesus answer this question? (b) In what three ways can Christians show good neighbourliness?
Show the model answer
(a) A lawyer asked how to inherit eternal life, quoted love of God and neighbour, then asked "Who is my neighbour?" (Luke 10:25-29).
Jesus told of a man going from Jerusalem to Jericho who was robbed, beaten and left half dead (Luke 10:30).
A priest passed by on the other side; so did a Levite (Luke 10:31-32).
A Samaritan had compassion, bandaged his wounds with oil and wine, put him on his own animal and took him to an inn (Luke 10:33-34).
He paid two denarii and promised to repay any more (Luke 10:35).
Jesus asked which of the three proved neighbour; the lawyer said, "The one who showed mercy" (Luke 10:36-37).
Jesus said, "Go and do likewise" (Luke 10:37).
(b) Any three: helping people in need regardless of tribe or religion; visiting the sick; giving to the poor; comforting the bereaved; helping accident victims; living peacefully with neighbours.
Narrate Luke 10:25-37, then three ways.
