Show the model answer
(a) After His baptism Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (Matthew 4:1).
He fasted forty days and forty nights and was hungry (Matthew 4:2).
The tempter said, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread" (Matthew 4:3).
Jesus answered, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).
The devil took Him to the pinnacle of the temple and told Him to throw Himself down, quoting Psalm 91 (Matthew 4:5-6).
Jesus answered, "You shall not tempt the Lord your God" (Matthew 4:7).
The devil showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and offered them if He would worship him (Matthew 4:8-9).
Jesus said, "Begone, Satan! You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve" (Matthew 4:10).
The devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him (Matthew 4:11).
(b) Any two: He rejected the wrong kinds of Messiahship (material, spectacular, political); He proved His obedience to God; prepared Him for His ministry; showed He would rely on God's word; showed He can help those who are tempted (Hebrews 2:18).
Narrate Matthew 4:1-11, then two points of significance.
