Model answer

(a) After Stephen's death the believers were scattered; Philip went down to Samaria and proclaimed Christ (Acts 8:1-5).
The crowds listened with one accord as they saw his signs (Acts 8:6).
Unclean spirits came out of many; many paralysed and lame were healed; there was much joy in the city (Acts 8:7-8).
Simon the magician, who had amazed the people, also believed and was baptised and followed Philip (Acts 8:9-13).
Many men and women believed and were baptised (Acts 8:12).
The apostles in Jerusalem sent Peter and John, who prayed for them and laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17).
Simon offered money for this power; Peter rebuked him (Acts 8:18-24).
(b) Any two: signs and miracles — healing and casting out of demons; joy in the city; the converts received the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands; the Spirit exposed Simon's wrong motives; the Spirit guided Philip to the Ethiopian (Acts 8:29).

Explanation

Narrate Acts 8:4-25, then two manifestations of the Spirit.
