Prayer is communication with God: talking to Him and listening to Him in faith.
Types (any four): adoration/praise; thanksgiving; confession of sins; petition (asking for one's needs); intercession (praying for others); dedication/consecration.
Bible examples: the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13); prayer for the sick (James 5:14-15); Paul's thanksgiving and intercession (Philippians 1:3-4).
Reasons prayers are not answered (any four): lack of faith and doubting (James 1:6-7); asking with wrong, selfish motives (James 4:3); unconfessed sin (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1-2); unforgiveness (Matthew 6:14-15); praying for show (Matthew 6:5); not asking according to God's will (1 John 5:14); disobedience to God's word; bad relationships, e.g. husbands mistreating wives (1 Peter 3:7).
