Communal: land belongs to the community/family; members get use rights but cannot sell
Inheritance: land passes from parents to children; leads to fragmentation
Leasehold: land used for a fixed period on payment of fees under an agreement
Rent/tenancy: land used for a season or two on payment of rent; no long-term development
Outright purchase (freehold): buyer owns the land fully and can develop or sell it
Free gift; pledge; state ownership under the Land Use Act
