Question 47

Mensuration of Solids

The slant height of a cone is 5 cm and the radius of its base is 3 cm. Find, correct to the nearest whole number, the volume of the cone. [Take π = 22/7]

  1. A.48 cm3
  2. B.47 cm3
  3. C.38 cm3
  4. D.13 cm3
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: C (38 cm3)

Explanation

Height = √(52 − 32) = 4 cm. V = ⅓ × 22/7 × 32 × 4 ≈ 37.7 ≈ 38 cm3.
