WAEC Mathematics 2008 Question 8

Question 8

Linear and Simultaneous Equations

If p − 2g + 1 = g + 3p and p − 2 = 0, find g.

  1. A.−2
  2. B.−1
  3. C.1
  4. D.2
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (−1)

Explanation

p = 2, so 2 − 2g + 1 = g + 6. Then −3 = 3g and g = −1.
