Question 35

Mensuration of Plane Shapes

An arc of a circle, radius 14 cm, is 18.33 cm long. Calculate, correct to the nearest degree, the angle which the arc subtends at the centre of the circle. [Take π = 22/7]

  1. A.11°
  2. B.20°
  3. C.22°
  4. D.75°
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: D (75°)

Explanation

θ/360 × 2 × 22/7 × 14 = 18.33, so θ = 18.33 × 360/88 ≈ 75°.
