Question 29

Mensuration of Plane Shapes

Calculate, correct to 2 significant figures, the length of the arc of a circle of radius 3.5cm which subtends an angle of 75° at the centre of the circle. (Take π = 22/7).

  1. A.2.3cm
  2. B.4.6cm
  3. C.8cm
  4. D.16cm
  5. E.110cm
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (4.6cm)

Explanation

Arc = 75/360 × 2 × 22/7 × 3.5 = 75/360 × 22 ≈ 4.58 cm ≈ 4.6 cm.
