Question 16

Mensuration of Solids

A cone is 14cm deep and the base radius is 4½cm. Calculate the volume of water that is exactly half the volume of the cone. (Take π = 22/7)

  1. A.49.5cm3
  2. B.99cm3
  3. C.148.5cm3
  4. D.297cm3
  5. E.445.5cm3
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: C (148.5cm3)

Explanation

Volume = ⅓ × 22/7 × 4.52 × 14 = 297 cm3. Half of it is 148.5 cm3.
