Question 16

Mensuration of Solids

The volume of a cone of height 9cm is 1848cm3. Find its radius. (Take π = 22/7).

  1. A.7cm
  2. B.14cm
  3. C.28cm
  4. D.98cm
  5. E.196cm
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (14cm)

Explanation

V = ⅓πr2h: ⅓ × 22/7 × r2 × 9 = 1848, so r2 = 1848 × 7 ÷ 66 = 196 and r = 14 cm.
