Model answer

(a) Communism is the political and economic system (Marx and Engels) in which the means of production, distribution and exchange are owned in common, society is classless, and goods are shared 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs'; Marx saw it as the final stage after socialism.
(b) Any four: common/state ownership of means of production; classless society; centrally planned economy; one-party rule (the Communist Party); no exploitation of labour, production for need not profit; the state eventually 'withers away'; equal distribution of wealth; restriction of opposition and individual liberties in practice.
