(a) Any two: to achieve self-government for Nigeria; to unite the various peoples of Nigeria; to promote political, economic and social development (democracy, education, welfare); to fight colonial exploitation; to work for a united Nigeria and the Cameroons.
(b) Any four: led nationalist struggle (with Azikiwe and Herbert Macaulay) for independence; 1946–47 tour and delegation to London against the Richards Constitution; won elections and formed the government of the Eastern Region; formed coalition with NPC at the centre in 1959, Azikiwe became Governor-General (1960) and later President (1963); helped create the Midwest Region (1963); political education through its newspapers (West African Pilot).
