(a) Uneven distribution of resources; differences in climate and products; differences in technology and industrial development; specialisation and surplus production; to earn foreign exchange; demand for goods not produced at home
(b) Nigeria and her neighbours produce similar primary goods (cocoa, groundnut, palm produce), so there is little to exchange; none has much manufacturing to offer; so official trade is small, though smuggling exists; poor road links and different currencies (CFA franc vs naira) reduce it further
(c)(i) e.g. South Atlantic route (to Europe), North Atlantic/Trans-Atlantic route (to USA), Cape route (to Asia) (ii) crude oil to the USA through the North Atlantic route; cocoa to Europe through the South Atlantic route
