Show the model answer
(a) The descendants of Jacob were fruitful and multiplied greatly; the land was filled with them (Exodus 1:7).
A new king arose who did not know Joseph (Exodus 1:8).
He feared the Israelites were too many and might join enemies in war (Exodus 1:9-10).
He set taskmasters to afflict them with heavy burdens; they built Pithom and Raamses (Exodus 1:11).
The more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied (Exodus 1:12).
They were made to serve with rigour; their lives were bitter with hard work in mortar, brick and the field (Exodus 1:13-14).
The king ordered the Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah to kill male babies at birth (Exodus 1:15-16).
The midwives feared God and let the boys live; God blessed them (Exodus 1:17-21).
Pharaoh ordered every Hebrew son to be cast into the Nile (Exodus 1:22).
(b) Any three: obeying the law; justice and fairness; dialogue to resolve conflicts; tolerance; effective law enforcement; good leadership; job creation; fighting corruption.
Narrate Exodus 1, then three ways.
