Show the model answer
(a) "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23).
Whoever would save his life will lose it (Luke 9:24).
To the eager follower: "the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head" (Luke 9:57-58).
"Leave the dead to bury their own dead; go and proclaim the kingdom" (Luke 9:59-60).
"No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom" (Luke 9:61-62).
Whoever does not "hate" father, mother, family and his own life cannot be a disciple (Luke 14:26).
Bear one's own cross (Luke 14:27).
Count the cost like a tower builder or a king going to war (Luke 14:28-32).
Renounce all that one has (Luke 14:33).
(b) Any three: self-denial; total commitment; readiness to suffer; obedience; putting Jesus first; perseverance; humility.
Summarise Luke 9 and 14, then three characteristics.
