Model answer

(a) They led Jesus to the high priest; chief priests, elders and scribes assembled; Peter followed into the courtyard (Mark 14:53-54).
The council sought testimony to put Him to death but found none (Mark 14:55).
Many bore false witness but their testimony did not agree (Mark 14:56).
Some said He claimed He would destroy the temple and build another in three days; even so they did not agree (Mark 14:57-59).
Jesus was silent to the high priest's question (Mark 14:60-61).
The high priest asked, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" (Mark 14:61).
Jesus said, "I am; and you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of Power" (Mark 14:62).
The high priest tore his garments: "You have heard his blasphemy" (Mark 14:63-64).
All condemned Him as deserving death; some spat on Him, blindfolded and struck Him (Mark 14:64-65).
(b) Any two: envy or hatred; bribery or gain; to protect oneself; pressure from others; revenge; political interests.
