Theory question 102
The Supremacy of GodWho was Naaman? Narrate the story of Naaman. Mention two important lessons which Naaman learnt from his healing
Show the model answer
Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Syria, a great and honoured man and mighty warrior, but a leper (2 Kings 5:1).
A little Israelite captive girl told her mistress the prophet in Samaria would cure him (2 Kings 5:2-3).
The king of Syria sent him with a letter, silver, gold and garments to the king of Israel, who tore his clothes thinking it was a quarrel (2 Kings 5:5-7).
Elisha asked the king to send Naaman to him (2 Kings 5:8).
Elisha sent a messenger telling him to wash seven times in the Jordan (2 Kings 5:9-10).
Naaman was angry, expecting the prophet to come out and wave his hand; he preferred the rivers of Damascus (2 Kings 5:11-12).
His servants persuaded him; he dipped seven times and his flesh became like a little child's (2 Kings 5:13-14).
He returned and declared there is no God in all the earth but in Israel; Elisha refused his gift (2 Kings 5:15-16).
He took earth to worship the Lord only (2 Kings 5:17).
Lessons (any two): the God of Israel is the only true God; pride must give way to humility and obedience; God's healing is free and cannot be bought; God's power reaches all nations; listen to good advice even from servants.
Identify Naaman, narrate 2 Kings 5:1-19, then two lessons.
