Question 30

Light and Reflection

The focal length of a concave mirror is 2.0 cm. If an object is placed 8.0 cm from it, the image is at

  1. A.2.0 m.
  2. B.2.3 m.
  3. C.2.5 m.
  4. D.2.7 m.
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: D (2.7 m.)

Explanation

1/v = 1/f − 1/u = 1/2 − 1/8 = 3/8, so v = 8/3 ≈ 2.7 cm in front of the mirror.
