Question 19

Gas Laws

A gas has a volume of 100 cm3 at 27 °C. If it is heated to temperature T until a final volume of 120 cm3 is attained, calculate T.

  1. A.33 °C
  2. B.60 °C
  3. C.87 °C
  4. D.114 °C
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: C (87 °C)

Explanation

Charles' law: V/T is constant (T in kelvin). T = 300 × 120/100 = 360 K = 87 °C.
