JAMB Mathematics 2004 Question 8

Question 8

Logarithms

If 6logx2 − 3logx3 = 3log50.2, find x.

  1. A.3/8
  2. B.3/4
  3. C.4/3
  4. D.8/3
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (3/4)

Explanation

The left side is logx(64/27) and the right side is 3 × (−1) = −3. So x−3 = 64/27, x3 = 27/64 and x = 3/4.
