Question 30

Mensuration of Solids

A cylindrical drum of diameter 56cm contains 123.2 litres of oil when full. Find the height of the drum in centimetres. (π = 22/7)

  1. A.12.5
  2. B.25.0
  3. C.45.0
  4. D.50.0
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: D (50.0)

Explanation

123.2 litres = 123 200 cm³. Base area = (22/7) × 28² = 2464 cm², so height = 123 200 ÷ 2464 = 50 cm.
