JAMB Mathematics 1990 Question 33

Question 33

Triangles and Quadrilaterals

In the figure above, PS = QS = RS and QŜR = 100°, find QP̂R.

  2. B.50°
  3. C.80°
  4. D.100°
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (50°)

Explanation

S is the same distance from P, Q and R, so it is the centre of a circle through them. The angle QSR at the centre is twice the angle QPR at the circumference, so QPR = 50°.
