JAMB Mathematics 1989 Question 32

Question 32

Triangles and Quadrilaterals

In the diagram above, HK is parallel to QR, PH = 4cm and HQ = 3cm. What is the ratio of KR:PR?

Diagram for this question
  1. A.7 : 3
  2. B.3 : 7
  3. C.3 : 4
  4. D.4 : 3.
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: B (3 : 7)

Explanation

A line parallel to one side divides the other two sides in the same ratio. So KR : PR = HQ : PQ = 3 : 7.
