JAMB Mathematics 1988 Question 37

Question 37

Triangles and Quadrilaterals

In the figure above, PS = RS = QS and QŜR = 50°. Find QP̂R.

Diagram for this question
  1. A.25°
  2. B.40°
  3. C.50°
  4. D.65°
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: A (25°)

Explanation

S is equally far from P, Q and R, so it is the centre of a circle through them. Angle QPR stands on the same arc QR as the angle at the centre QSR, so it is half of 50°, i.e. 25°.
