JAMB Mathematics 1988 Question 32

Question 32

Angles and Polygons

For which of the following exterior angles is a regular polygon possible? i. 35° ii. 18° iii. 15°

  1. A.i and ii
  2. B.ii only
  3. C.ii and iii
  4. D.iii only
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: C (ii and iii)

Explanation

A regular polygon has 360° ÷ (exterior angle) sides, which must be a whole number. 360 ÷ 18 = 20 and 360 ÷ 15 = 24 work, but 360 ÷ 35 is not whole.
