JAMB Chemistry 1984 Question 9

Question 9

Mole Concept and Stoichiometry

The ratio of the number of molecules in 2 g of hydrogen to that in 16 g of oxygen is

  1. A.2:1
  2. B.1:1
  3. C.1:2
  4. D.1:4
  5. E.1:8
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: A (2:1)

Explanation

2 g of H2 is 1 mole and 16 g of O2 is 0.5 mole. Equal moles mean equal numbers of molecules, so the ratio is 1 : 0.5 = 2 : 1.
