JAMB Biology 2007 Question 13

Question 13

Population Ecology

Which of the following factors can bring about competition in a population?

  1. A.Dispersion.
  2. B.Emigration.
  3. C.Drought.
  4. D.Mortality.
Show the answer and explanation

Answer: C (Drought.)

Explanation

Drought makes water and food scarce, so members of the population must struggle for the little that is left. Emigration and mortality reduce numbers and so reduce competition.
