(a) Selective exploitation
(b) Deforestation
(c) Regeneration
(d) Afforestation

Show the model answer
Model answer

(a) Selective exploitation: cutting only selected trees of the right species and size, leaving others to grow, so the forest is preserved
(b) Deforestation: complete removal of forest trees for farming, building, fuel or timber; causes erosion, loss of wildlife and climate change
(c) Regeneration: renewing a forest after cutting, naturally (from seeds, coppice) or artificially (planting seedlings)
(d) Afforestation: establishing a forest on land that had no forest before

Explanation

Each term needs a clear meaning and one point on its importance. (The book prints (a) as "Selective exploration".)
