Model answer

About six (Luke: eight) days after Peter's confession, Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain (Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2; Luke 9:28).
Luke says He went up to pray, and as He prayed His appearance changed (Luke 9:28-29).
He was transfigured: His face shone like the sun and His garments became dazzling white (Matthew 17:2; Mark 9:3).
Moses and Elijah appeared talking with Him; Luke says they spoke of His departure to be accomplished at Jerusalem (Luke 9:30-31).
The disciples were heavy with sleep but woke and saw His glory (Luke 9:32).
Peter said, "Lord, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths", not knowing what he said (Matthew 17:4; Mark 9:5-6).
A bright cloud overshadowed them and a voice said, "This is my beloved Son… listen to him" (Matthew 17:5).
The disciples fell on their faces in fear; Jesus touched them and said "Rise, and have no fear"; they saw Jesus only (Matthew 17:6-8).
Coming down, He told them to tell no one until the Son of man was raised from the dead (Matthew 17:9; Mark 9:9).

Explanation

Combine the three accounts in order, noting Luke's extra details.
