(a) NIPOST: collects, sorts and delivers letters and parcels; sells stamps, postal orders and money orders; registered post, recorded and express delivery; private mail bags and boxes, poste restante; courier (EMS) services; agency services e.g. collecting payments; philatelic services.
(b) NITEL: provides local, trunk and international telephone services; installs and maintains telephone lines and exchanges; telex and telegram services; leased lines and data transmission; directory/enquiry services; public call boxes; links Nigeria to other countries by satellite and cable.
